Kochi: Today, the court in Kochi will reconsider the bail request of the main accused, PR Aravindakshan, a prominent leader of the CPI (M), who is presently in custody in connection with the Karuvannur bank fraud case. However, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has already submitted a plea to the court, strongly opposing bail.
During the previous hearing, the ED apprised the court that granting bail to Aravindakshan would be inappropriate, citing the ongoing critical stage of their investigation. Furthermore, the ED is actively preparing a charge sheet against Aravindakshan. In response, Aravindakshan’s defense argues that the ED has included unrelated matters and asserts political motives behind their actions. This argument is expected to be further examined during today’s court session.
The Enforcement Directorate is poised to present crucial evidence in the Karuvannur bank fraud case, with documents scheduled for submission on the 30th of this month. The ED will submit the charge sheet against the primary suspects, including P. Satheesh Kumar, PP Kiran, PR Aravindakshan, a member of the Vadakkencherry CPI(M) local committee, and CK Jills, the Karuvannur bank accountant—all of whom were apprehended in connection with the bank fraud. The ED has identified them as the alleged masterminds behind the bank scam. The evidence presented in court will encompass the charge sheet as well as audio recordings of Aravindakshan, who remains in remand.
