Kannur: ABVP activists led a protest march towards the Kannur Government Polytechnic College to protest against the inaction by college authorities against SFI goons, who locked a girl student in a dark room. She was locked up for wearing a rakhi and distributing ABVP memberships. The victim, Aradhana, had given a written complaint to the college principal, but no action has yet been taken against the accused SFI leaders.
The police arrested and removed the ABVP protesters who sat on the road and continued protesting against the college’s inaction against SFI. The ABVP leaders made it clear that they will continue with their protests till action is taken against the SFI leaders accused of locking up the girl student.
The ABVP State Joint Secretary, Abhinav Thuneri, said that 74 students have taken membership of the ABVP and promised that in two years the ABVP’s flag with fly at the Kannur Government Polytechnic College campus.
Following the strong protests by the ABVP, the police have registered a case against sever SFI activists including three female members.
SFI had locked up Aradhana in a dark room as a form of punishment for distributing memberships to join ABVP. Though, she lodged a complaint with the college principle, no actions were taken. Following this, Aradhana also filed a complaint to the SP.
According to her complaint, Aradhana said that she was ragged many times by SFI activists, who came from outside. She added that no one is responding to this.
Aradhana also said that she was questioned for wearing a rakhi and was not even allowed to go to the bathroom whistled locked up in the dark room. She also bravely took the stand that she will fight this injustice legally till strong actions are taken against the all the accused.
