ERNAKULAM: In response to the frequent incidents of sexual harassment against minor girls in Ernakulam district, the Kerala police have implemented precautionary measures. These crimes have reportedly occurred in areas under the jurisdiction of the Ernakulam Rural Police.
As part of their efforts, the first step is to educate migrant workers about the relevant laws and associated punishments. In this program, the migrant workers will also be made aware of the safety measures they need to follow. An awareness campaign program for migrant workers has been organised in Perumbavoor this morning, and a free medical check-up will also be conducted for the migrant workers.
Recently, four cases of sexual harassment against minor girls were reported under the jurisdiction of the Ernakulam Rural Police. Notably, the Ernakulam Rural Police have registered these cases, and it has been discovered that the accused in these four subsequent cases were migrant workers, while the victims also belonged to the migrant workers. This situation clearly indicates that lack of awareness regarding safety and laws is a significant contributing factor.
In this situation, the campaign organised by Ernakulam district police aims to raise awareness among migrant workers about the laws and associated punishments, while also improving their accessibility to the police.
