Thiruvananthapuram: Today marks the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, a day renowned for dispelling ignorance and illuminating the path of wisdom. Thousands of young children are taking their first steps into the world of letters as they partake in the cherished tradition of ‘Vidyarambham’ on this special day.
Regardless of caste or creed, ‘Vidyarambham’ is a ceremony observed by people of all backgrounds on Vijayadashami. It is a day when three revered goddesses—Saraswati, the embodiment of learning; Durga, the symbol of power that vanquishes evil and restores righteousness; and Mahalakshmi, the bestower of prosperity—are worshipped together.
In anticipation of this grand celebration, temples across the state have made elaborate preparations to facilitate Vidyarambham ceremonies. As a result, these sacred spaces and prominent Vidyarambham centres have witnessed a significant influx of devotees.
Temples and centres such as Tirur Thunchan Parambu, Panachikkadu Devi Temple (known as Dakshina Mookambika), and Pujappura Temple have already commenced their Vidyarambham ceremonies. The Chottanikkara Devi Temple started Vidyarambham rituals at 8 AM, followed by the Pantheeradi Pooja and Saraswati Pooja, ensuring a meaningful start for the youngest of minds. Furthermore, at the Paravoor Dakshina Mookambika Temple, the Poojayeduppu ceremonies are conducted under the guidance of the Chief Priest.
