Kochi: The Leader of the Opposition, V.D. Satheesan, made grave allegations against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the State’s Health Department on Tuesday. He expressed shock over the report from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) regarding the Medical Services Corporation, which revealed a serious lack of quality control in the medications distributed within the state government hospitals.
“Some companies’ drugs have not even been tested. The government is busy extorting money even when people’s lives are on the line, alleged Satheesan.
During a press conference, he accused the Chief Minister and Health Minister Veena George of allowing the procurement of expired medications, which were subsequently distributed to 26 hospitals. He revealed that approximately 1,610 batches of medicines failed to comply with expiration date regulations.
Satheesan called for an impartial investigation into the incident, emphasizing the need for transparency. and also raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the fire at the Medical Services Corporation, suggesting a potential mystery.
