Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for Kerala, predicting rainfall over the state for the next five days following the onset of Thulavarsham in the region. Though no yellow alerts have been issued for any districts at present, isolated heavy rains and thunderstorms are expected to persist until the 28th of this month.
The India Meteorological Department has also said that strong winds may accompany the showers in some isolated areas. Despite the anticipation of intense weather patterns, Kerala remains free from the looming threat of cyclones.
Meanwhile, recent cyclone developments in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal have not posed a danger to the state. Cyclone Tej, which was previously active in the Arabian Sea, shifted westward and eventually made it to Yemen, crossing over Iran.
On the other hand, Cyclone Hamoon, the fourth cyclone of the year and the second in the Bay of Bengal, is currently situated approximately 200 kilometres southeast of Paradeep, Odisha, and is centred over the West Bay of Bengal. This cyclone is expected to bring heavy rainfall to several regions, including Odisha, West Bengal, Manipur, Tripura, Mizoram, Assam, and Meghalaya.
