THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thrikkakara MLA Uma Thomas criticised the Kerala police department for the dramatic scenes caused by Malayalam actor Vinayakan at the police station. The MLA stated that the incidents took place at the Ernakulam North police station during the case involving Malayalam actor Vinayakan, which is a matter of shame for the entire Kerala police department.
She expressed her concern, noting that the release of the actor, who caused disruption at the police station and was subsequently granted bail, spreads a wrong message to society. She added that the actor committed shouted and verbally abused the police but was immediately released on station bail, which suggests that he is receiving privileges as a ‘comrade.’ This situation raises questions about whether communist party members can engage in unlawful activities. It’s worth mentioning that this is not the first time he has caused trouble in public.
Uma Thomas emphasised that anyone who violates the law should be held accountable. She argued that actor Vinayakan’s actions at the police station should be charged under a non-bailable section, and this situation appears to involve discrimination. There are concerns that police officers might be facing pressure from the top-level party leaders of the ruling party.
Furthermore, MLA Uma Thomas criticised those at the Cliff house for not taking action against the ‘comrades,’ which she believes is the reason they frequently cause trouble. She pointed out that if the actor had been punished, he might not have defamed the late Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy on the day of his death. Uma Thomas believes that Vinayan’s actions are silently encouraged by the Kerala government due to his party background.
Uma Thomas made these remarks in response to the incident in which actor Vinayakan was arrested and released on bail after disrupting and verbally abusing police officers at the Ernakulam Police station.
