THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: PA Mohammed Riyas, the Kerala state Minister for PWD and son-in-law of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, is alleged to have concealed crores of rupees in income in his 2021 election affidavit. The affidavit also states that his wife, Veena Vijayan, the daughter of the Chief Minister, has not entered into any contracts with any company.
In response to the question in the election commission’s affidavit regarding whether the candidate or spouse has any contractual agreements with private firms, Mohammed Riyas answered ‘No.’ However, recent revelations surrounding the ‘monthly payment controversy’ reveal that Veena’s company, ‘Exalogic Solutions,’ did indeed have an agreement with the black soil company Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL).
It is also noteworthy that while Veena and her company entered into contracts with several companies, including CMRL, and received ‘rewards,’ the answer ‘no’ was given in the affidavit by Riyas.
It has also been reported that Muhammed Riyas, in his affidavit to the Election Commission during the 2021 Assembly elections, listed only Rs 1.08 crore as Veena’s income in line with her income tax returns. However, GST records reveal that Veena Vijayan and her company, Exalogic Solutions, earned Rs 4.05 crore from contracts with various companies between 2017 and 2021. These documents suggest that Riyas may have hidden an income of Rs 2.97 crore in his affidavit.
These revelations in the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission by Muhammed Riyas, including the alleged concealment of substantial income and other important information, have led to controversies.
