Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala will experience isolated heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning, in the afternoon, with Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts likely to witness light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in the coming hours.
The India Meteorological Department has predicted this weather pattern to a cyclonic circulation over South Tamil Nadu and another cyclone located in the southwest Bay of Bengal. As a result, Kerala residents can expect rain with strong winds up to 40 kmph on Sunday and Monday .
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Centre has raised concerns about the possibility of high waves, ranging from 1.2 to 1.8 metres, and storm surges along the Kerala coast until 11.30 PM today. As a precautionary measure, fishermen and coastal residents have been advised to exercise caution.
Fishing vessels are strongly recommended to be securely moored in the harbor. To avoid boat collisions, it’s very important to keep a good amount of space between them. In addition, individuals are advised to limit their trips to the beach as much as possible to avoid any unnecessary trips in adverse weather conditions.
