Kannur: The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) activists has boycotted classes for three consecutive days at Kannur Government Polytechnic College. Their protest revolves around the demand for the reinstatement of three suspended SFI activists who were allegedly involved in locking a female ABVP activist in a classroom.
SFI activists locked the female student in a dark room concerning the distribution of ABVP memberships. Subsequently, the affected female student lodged a complaint with the college principal. As time passed without any action being taken, a complaint was also filed with the local Superintendent of Police (SP).
The gravity of the situation escalated further, when the concerned female student personally met with the Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani, and filed an official complaint. Following this, the three SFI activists involved were suspended.
In response, the student claimed that SFI activists from outside the college campus had entered and engaged in the ragging of female students.
