Thiruvananthapuram: BJP State President, K Surendran, has raised strong criticism against the state government for spending on festivities like ‘Keraleeyam’ when the state is facing financial crunch. He said that the government conducted these festivities with the aim of committing corruption. He also accused the ministers of looting the treasury.
Surendran blamed the government for not having any money to spend on welfare activities. He said that Supplyco does not have stock of many items because the government has no funds to purchase it. The employment guarantee scheme for the poor has been stalled because the government has no funds in the treasury to be earmarked for it. Only the Central Government share of the fund is available. The state government is not contributing its share.
The BJP President criticized the government for spending crores of rupees for programs like ‘Keraleeyam’ when the state is heading towards a financial crisis. The government is looting the state when it is neck deep in debts.
He also remarked that the government is robbing the common people through water tax, building tax, land tax etc. The opposition is silent on the issue.
K Surendran revealed that the BJP is prepared to protest and agitate against the state government. He announced that the party will organize one lakh people and block the Secretariat in the state capital.
The BJP leader added that the party national president, JP Nadda will inaugurate the protest. He also said that the NDA has decided to carry out extensive protests and awareness against the wrong policies of the state government.
