Ernakulam: Police are intensifying their investigation into the recent Kalamassery blast. According to police reports, the person who planted the bomb, arrived in a blue car, and CCTV footage captured the vehicle speeding away just before the blast occurred.
The NIA team from Kochi is now on the scene to help with the investigation. DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib informed the media that the initial investigation indicates the use of an IED device in the blast. The police have gathered all the necessary evidence from the CCTV footage in the convention centre, confirming the incident as a bomb blast.
The officials have said that there was a specific reason for selecting the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ meeting venue for the bomb attack. To gather more information regarding the blast, a special police team is keeping an eye on social media.
During the incident, more than 2500 people were present in the hall, and the explosion happened when the prayer session began. Eyewitnesses reported hearing multiple explosions, resulting in one fatality and 36 injuries, with five in serious condition.
