THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor and BJP leader Suresh Gopi has recently become the target of widespread obscene propaganda, with allegations of misconduct involving a news reporter.
In response to these allegations, several artists and the public have expressed their support for Suresh Gopi, referring to this attack as politically fabricated. There is also talk of the origins of the allegations, reportedly from left-wing cyber attackers who are using them as a cheap political weapon against Suresh Gopi. Many believe that these actions are fabricated with a particular agenda, especially since the Lok Sabha elections are just ahead.
In response to the attack against Suresh Gopi, Malayalam film actor Joy Mathew said the allegation is as fabricated as a scene in the Malayalam movie ‘Sandesam (1991),’ directed by Sathyan Anthikad and written by Sreenivasan. Joy Mathew pointed to a scene from the movie ‘Sandesam’ in which the actor Sankaradi plays the role of Comrade Kumara Pillai (a leftist ideologist). In the movie, while addressing the upcoming election, comrade Kumara Pillai makes a dialogue that, “To win the election, we may try to trap the opponent leaders, defame them, or attempt character assassination to spoil their image among the public.”
Joy Mathew then pointed out that even 32 years after the movie’s release, some are still using such cheap tactics as political weapons against opposing candidates. He added that it is not believable that such allegations are true against actor Suresh Gopi. Those who know him personally cannot believe such allegations. “I stand firm with Suresh Gopi,” he said, adding that he would never be afraid of cyberbullying from any corner for standing firm with the truth.
Recently several cyber attacks were faced by Advocate, actress, and singer Manjuvani Bhagyaratnam for posting her support for Suresh Gopi on the issue in her Facebook post.
Earlier, the popular dubbing artist Bhagya Lakshmi and journalist Nikesh Kumar strongly contempt false campaigning against Suresh Gopi. Actor Baburaj, Beena Antony, Sreevidya Mullachery, and other television artists, including Anumol and Sadhika Venugopal, have also extended their support to Suresh Gopi, denouncing the issue as a fake propaganda attack against him.
