Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for the state of Kerala, predicting rain accompanied by thunder and lightning for the next five days.
Yellow alerts have been issued to five districts, including Idukki, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur on November 3. The alert is in response to the prevailing weather conditions influenced by a cyclonic gyre over Sri Lanka and the Comorin region, along with northeasterly winds (a wind that comes from the northeast) blowing from the Bay of Bengal over South India.
Furthermore, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Centre has issued a warning concerning the possibility of high waves measuring 1.2 to 2 metres and a storm surge along the Kerala coast until 11.30 tonight. Similar conditions, including high waves ranging from 1.2 to 2.3 metres and rough seas, are expected along the South Tamil Nadu and North Tamil Nadu coasts during the same time frame. Fishermen and coastal residents are urged to exercise caution in light of these conditions.
