Ernakulam: The High Court will reconsider the petition today, which seeks a vigilance probe into the monthly payment controversy involving the Chief Minister’s daughter, Veena Vijayan. This comes in response to the petition challenging the earlier decision by the Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court, which had dismissed the plea for an investigation on the grounds of insufficient preliminary evidence to substantiate the allegations.
Girish Babu, a resident of Kalamassery, had initially approached the High Court, seeking a vigilance probe into the monthly payment controversy. However, the court recently appointed an amicus curiae to assess whether the petition remains relevant in light of Girish Babu’s unfortunate demise.
The controversy revolves around Veena Vijayan, who received a sum of Rs. 1.72 crore from CMRL, a black sand company. The petition contends that these financial transactions fall within the scope of the Prevention of Corruption Act, as per income tax findings.
