Thrissur: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a significant coastal rally in Thrissur, voicing the concerns of coastal residents who have been neglected by the state government and demanding the prompt implementation of vital central projects in the coastal regions. The rally was marked by a symbolic flag handover, with actor and former Member of Parliament Suresh Gopi passing the flag to BJP District President, Adv. K K Aneesh Kumar. During this symbolic gesture, Suresh Gopi emphasized the importance of solidarity in safeguarding society.
The rally was inaugurated by BJP State Vice President K. S Radhakrishnan. It served as a platform to underscore the state government’s neglect towards coastal residents, who have actively participated in numerous rescue operations in Kerala. Commencing from Azhikode, the coastal rally witnessed the participation of hundreds of vehicles, amplifying the party’s claims that despite the existence of central schemes aimed at benefiting fishermen, the state government has made insufficient efforts to put them into action. Throughout the rally, there was a resounding call for the expeditious implementation of these essential projects.
Numerous receptions were organized in various constituencies along the rally route, further engaging the coastal communities. The event also included the recognition and honour of newly joined BJP members and fishermen. The concluding meeting of the rally took place in Chavakkad, and it was inaugurated by BJP National Vice President AP Abdullakutty. Abdullakutty expressed his view that the Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, is apprehensive about the BJP’s growing influence in Kerala, which he believes has led to the preplanned filing of cases against individuals like Suresh Gopi and others.
