Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted rain in Kerala. Authorities have issued alerts in multiple districts to ensure public safety.
An orange alert has been issued for Idukki district, indicating the likelihood of heavy rainfall, while a yellow alert has been issued for nine other districts in the state.
The districts under a yellow alert are Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, and Kannur. Residents in these areas are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions in response to the expected rain. The IMD predicts a range of 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rainfall within the next 24 hours.
Additionally, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Centre has issued a warning regarding high waves and potential storm surges along the Kerala and south Tamil Nadu coasts until 11.30 PM tonight. These surges could reach heights of 1.2 to 2.0 metres along the Kerala coast and 1.2 to 2.2 metres along the south Tamil Nadu coast.
To stay safe, authorities have strongly advised fishermen and people living near the coast to be careful and follow safety rules during this bad weather conditions.
