Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather advisory, indicating the likelihood of widespread rain in Kerala. This forecast comes as a result of the formation of a low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea and the presence of strong easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal affecting south-eastern India.
In response to the anticipated rainfall, an orange alert has been declared in Ernakulam district for today. Furthermore, a yellow alert has been issued in ten districts, which includes Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod, for today and extending to Idukki district till Thursday.
The IMD has stated that these weather conditions are expected to persist for the next three days, and residents are urged to exercise caution during this period. Additionally, heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations in Kerala today and tomorrow.
There is a possibility of high waves and storm surges along the Kerala coast today. Fishermen and coastal residents are advised to exercise caution and remain vigilant.
