Ernakulam: Allan Shuhaib, one of the accused in the Pantheerankavu UAPA case, has been hospitalized after being found unconscious in a flat. He is presently receiving medical care within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Reports indicate that Allan fell unconscious following an overdose of sleeping pills.
The incident occurred at a flat located in Idathara, Ernakulam, where Allan was found. Relatives promptly rushed him to the hospital. Initial assessments suggest that this incident may be a suicide attempt. Owing to his condition, the police have not been able to obtain a statement from Allan, who is in the ICU. It is believed that Allan may have ingested more than 30 sleeping pills. The incident took place while the trial in the Pantheerankavu UAPA case was going on.
Allan Shuhaib, a law student, was taken into custody on November 1, 2019, by Pantheerankavu police officers in Kerala under suspicion of having links to Maoist activities. He and another individual, Thaha Fasal, were detained under circumstances arousing suspicion. Subsequently, the case was taken over by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and both the NIA and Kerala police alleged that Allan had connections with and provided support to a proscribed Communist terrorist organization. At present, Allan is out on bail.
