Thiruvananthapuram: Congress took offence when one of its leaders in the State chose to praise Narendra Modi for adopting the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi. The party today dismissed its leader, A. P. Abdullakutty, from the party for making positive statements about the development initiatives undertaken by the Prime Minister.
The Congress leader had said that Narendra Modi was following the political strategy of Mahatma Gandhi to remember the face of the poorest Indian when making a government policy. Modi by following the Mahatma’s philosophy was able to bring Swach Bharat and Ujjawal Yogana schemes.
Abdulakkutty today said that he still holds by his Facebook post and said that time will prove whatever he wrote in his post. Before joining the Congress party, Abdullakutty was part of the Communist party and was booted out of the party for praising the Gujarat Model in 2009.
He later joined the Congress and won the Kannur Assembly seat twice in 2009 and in 2011.
Interestingly, Abdullakutty is again exiting the party in the name of being positive towards Narendra Modi and his developmental initiatives. In 2009 he was ousted from the communist party for praising the ‘Gujarat Model’.
