Alappuzha: Union Minister of State for External Affairs, V Muraleedharan, is set to visit the residence of farmer KG Prasad in Kuttanadu, who committed suicide. The visit will include a meeting with Prasad’s grieving family. A march, led by the BJP, is scheduled at Alappuzha Collectorate at 10:30 am today. Various organizations are spearheading the observance of a Black Day in Kuttanadu.
The protest by farmers’ organizations against the government is escalating in response to the death of KG Prasad. Despite the government’s denial of the claims in Prasad’s suicide note, various agricultural groups and farmers’ associations are determined to proceed with the protest.
Earlier, V Muraleedharan had criticized the government in the wake of the farmer’s suicide in Alappuzha. He attributed the resurgence of farmer suicides to the government’s flawed rice procurement method, emphasizing the dire financial situation faced by many farmers. Muraleedharan also strongly criticized the administration of the Pinarayi government.
