Thiruvananthapuram: Indian Meteorological Department has informed that very heavy southwest monsoon is likely to occur in Kerala in next 48 hours. The Department has also stated that low pressure area will be forming in Arabian sea within hours.
Light showers are likely to set in on June 7 and 8 and heavy to very heavy rain on June 9 and 10. Fishermen are advised not to venture in the areas of southwest Arabian sea, east central Arabian sea off the Karnataka-Goa coasts,adjoining Maldives-Comorin region and along the Kerala coast and east central and adjoining southeast Arabian sea. Orange alert has been issued on June 9 and 10 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam districts. And today, IMD has also issued yellow alert in Kozhikkode district.
