Idukki: Mariyakutty, the woman targeted in a recent cyberattack following false news propagated by Deshabhimani, has categorically rejected the newspaper’s expression of regret. In response to the false news, Mariyakutty affirms her decision to pursue legal action and seeks compensation for the defamation. The CPI (M) mouthpiece has acknowledged the error and expressed regret over the publication.
The misinformation, originating from Deshabhimani, led to a widespread cyberattack on Mariyakutty. The clarification reveals that the house and homestead she resides in are registered under her younger daughter’s name, with a mistaken detail about her daughter being abroad. In light of these developments, Mariyakutty declared her decision to approach the High Court to address the false news. She also demanded compensation for the insult to herself and her children caused by the dissemination of the fake news.
