Thiruvananthapuram: Minister of State (MoS) for Foreign and Parliamentary Affairs, V. Muraleedharan, was welcomed, today, amid a jubilant crowd. Muraleedharan is the only Keralite in the Modi government which took oath on 30 May.
V. Muraleedharan said that his ministry is doing all the necessary steps to ensure that the bodies of 7 Keralites killed in a bus accident are returned home. He also said that medical help is being administrated to those injured. A control room is opened in Dubai for the relatives to get information about those injured.
The newly appointed MoS claimed that he had discussions with the Union Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, concerning the Nipah outbreak in Kerala. The Union Minister assured him of all help and said that the condition is under control and the Center will continue to monitor the situation.
Muraleedharan is also looking into the issue of spike in air fare that has been troubling Keralites travelling abroad for work. During festival seasons, the air fare become exorbitantly high making it difficult for migrant workers from the state to visit their loved ones during festival time.
Another important issue is the fare charged while transporting dead bodies from other countries to India. Currently, the aviation companies charge on the basis of the weight of the dead body.
Muraleedharan said that he had talked to the Civil Aviation Minister, Hardeep Singh Puri, about the two issues and that he has promised an emergency meeting to look into the matter.
The Minister was welcomed with much fanfare by his supporters and well wishers at the Thiruvananthapuram airport. BJP State President, Sreedharan Pillai and General Secretary, K. Surendran and other leaders were present to greet Muraleedharan. Muraleedharan was taken to the BJP State office in an open jeep accompanied by hundreds of BJP supporters.
