Thiruvananthapuram: The fake voter ID controversy has put the Youth Congress on the back foot in the state. BJP Yuva Morcha State President, CR Praphul Krishnan, said that the Youth Congress’ organization election was a mock polling in a bid to subvert the coming general election in the country.
The Yuva Morcha President revealed that the fake voter IDs were made with the knowledge of Congress MLA, Shafi Parambil. Praphul Krishnan demanded that the MLA take responsibility for it and resign immediately. Praphul Krishnan pointed out that this is a matter of national security and demanded that national investigating agencies probe into the serious crime.
Meanwhile, the BJP has decided to file a case against the Congress on the issue. The BJP State President, K Surendran, said that he has filed complaint to the concerned authorities including the DGP.
It has been reported that in the recent election of the Youth Congress Organisation, forged voter’s identification cards of the Election Commission of India were produced. This information was brought to light through investigative reporting by Janam TV.
Janam TV found out that Youth Congress members utilized a mobile application named CR Card to create these fake voter identity cards of the Election Commission of India It is reported that the mobile application could generate a counterfeit card within 5 minutes, capable of being printed on PVC cards. Around 1.25 lakh such fake identity cards have been prepared by the Youth Congress members.
Considering the potential threat to national security, Surendran raised his concerns with the Chief Election Officer of the state. While this time the forged ID cards of the Election Commission of India were used for the internal elections of the Youth Congress, there’s concern that a similar strategy could be applied in general elections.
