Idukki: The Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) has once again halted the operations of the Robin bus for the second consecutive day. The bus was intercepted and inspected near Karimkunnam at Thodupuzha, and a hefty fine of Rs 7,500 was imposed for an alleged violation of its permit.
Despite the financial setback, bus owner Gireesh remains resolute, affirming that the service will persist despite the imposed fines. In a parallel development, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has initiated bus services along the Pathanamthitta-Coimbatore route, the very same route where the Robin bus operates. The KSRTC AC low-floor bus commenced its service from Pathanamthitta, setting off half an hour earlier on the identical route as the Robin bus.
Robin bus, operating with an all-India permit, incurred fines exceeding Rs 1 lakh in both Kerala and Tamil Nadu yesterday. Since it started service, the MVD has repeatedly halted the Robin bus at four different locations. The MVD released the bus after levying fines, adhering to a High Court order preventing seizure.
