Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts heavy rainfall over the next five days. The state has been placed under orange and yellow alerts in various districts.
Today, a yellow alert has been issued for four districts, namely Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, and Malappuram. On Friday, the IMD predicted heavy rainfall in isolated places, prompting yellow alerts in Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Malappuram districts.
A cyclone is situated over the southwest Bay of Bengal and Sri Lanka, while another cyclonic circulation is present over the southeast Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. Due to the impact of these weather systems, Pathanamthitta and Idukki districts are under an orange alert, while Thiruvananthapuram and Malappuram districts have been issued a yellow alert for tomorrow.
Despite the forecasted adverse weather conditions, including the possibility of high waves and sea attacks along the Kerala-Tamil Nadu coast, fishing operations in the coastal regions remain unaffected.
