Kannur: It is reported that Youth Congress members who protested waving black flags at the Nava Kerala Sadas bus carrying the Chief Minister and other cabinet ministers were brutally beaten up by the event’s volunteers. Youth Congress district Vice-President Mahita Mohan, who is in police custody, alleged that DYFI-SFI activists were the ones who assaulted the protesters.
Youth Congress members had protested waving black flags at the Nava Kerala Sadas bus at Eripuram in Pazhayangadi in the Kallyasseri constituency on Monday. This is the first protest against Nava Kerala Sadas in the state.
The protest was led by Youth Congress district vice-presidents Mahita Mohan and Sudheesh Vellachal. It is reported that those who sustained injuries to the head were admitted to a hospital in Taliparamba.
Meanwhile, it is alleged that while the Youth Congress activists were being beaten up, the police looked on. Police said four KSU and Youth League activists each have been placed under preventive custody.
Allegations that the state government was splurging money on travelling across the state in a special bus have been intensifying. The government purchased a luxury bus worth Rs 1.05 crore for the travel of Chief minister and his cabinet ministers for the Nava Kerala Sadas Program. This splurging of money by the responsible leaders of the state is when the state is experiencing severe economic crisis. It is when people of Kerala is finding it difficult to make the ends meet.
