Thrissur: A school shooting has occurred at the Vivekodayam Boys Higher Secondary School in Thrissur. The assailant, is also a former student of the school. According to reports, the accused has a criminal background involved in drug related cases. BJP District President, KK Aneesh revealed that the party activists had earlier complained to the police about the anti-social activities of the accused. The BJP leader also said that there is an attempt to picture the accused as mentally deranged.
According to a faculty of the school, “He came into the class while I was teaching. He was wearing a black dress. Closing the door behind him, he took a gun and inquired about another teacher in the school. Initially, some students thought it was a prank until he fired a shot upwards, causing genuine fear among the children. Unable to leave and seek help, I stayed with the children, fearing for their safety. When he left the class, he quickly closed the door.”
The assailant launched the attack at approximately 10:15 a.m. Teachers allege that the accused is involved in drug addiction. Investigations revealed that the accused used an air gun purchased for Rs 1,800 from the Trichur gun bazaar on September 28.
