Kannur: Schoolchildren in Panoor were compelled to stand on the streets under the scorching sun and shout slogans for the Chief Minister as part of the Nava Kerala Sadas event. In this incident, the students from Champad LP School were instructed to raise slogans in praise of the Chief Minister.
Despite discomfort and fatigue, the students were directed to shout slogans as the Chief Minister’s bus passed by. The organisers asked them to continue shouting slogans when the children grew tired and their voices weakened.
Following this incident, locals filed a complaint with the Child Rights Commission. This incident follows prior controversies surrounding the District Education Officer’s suggestion of participating schoolchildren in the Nava Kerala Sadas event. An order was issued mandating a minimum participation of 200 students from each school. The decision was made after the number of people participating in the Nava Kerala Sadas decreased.
