Kochi: Health Minister Veena George revealed on Sunday that the autopsy reports of the four individuals who lost their lives in the CUSAT stampede pointed to asphyxiation (deprivation of oxygen that can result in unconsciousness and often death) as the primary cause of death. According to the initial findings, the victims were tragically choked to death amid the surging crowd.
A total of 56 people were swiftly transported to various hospitals in the aftermath of the horrific stampede. Four were declared dead upon arrival. Among the injured, 32 individuals were admitted to different wards, with three in critical condition in the ICU at the Government Medical College Hospital, Kalamassery. At Aster Medicity, three students in the ICU remain in precarious condition, while 16 people have been discharged from Kinder Hospital, as stated by Veena George.
