BENGALURU: Congress MLA expresses apology for linking PM Narendra Modi to Pulwama attack.
During a program on a private TV channel, Karnataka Congress MLA HC Balakrishna expressed his apology for making controversial remarks that linked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the deaths of soldiers in the Pulwama attack. The MLA specifically regretted his comments, acknowledging the sensitivity of involving soldiers in political discussions.
Balakrishna mentioned during the TV program that his earlier statement was based on misinformation. He clarified that at that time, he had no intention of politically misusing the issue.
Earlier, while attending a public program in Tubinakere village, Magadi taluk of Ramanagara, Mandya District in Karnataka, Balakrishna had made remarks blaming the Modi government for the soldiers’ deaths in Pulwama.
He added that if the Pulwama attack had not taken place, Modi might not have secured a second term as PM. Additionally, he asserted that the BJP had politically exploited the Pulwama attack for the election.
Following the controversy sparked by the Congress MLA’s statement, he promptly issued an apology.
