Thiruvananthapuram: The Department of Civil Supplies has declared today a holiday for ration shops across the state. This decision comes in preparation for the commencement of December’s ration distribution, scheduled to kick off tomorrow.
The leave has been granted to facilitate essential system updates on the electronic point of sale (e-POS) machines, ensuring a seamless and error-free distribution process for the upcoming month. Additionally, this break allows ration traders to organise and arrange the shop’s space systematically for storing stock item-wise.
Last month, the government introduced a policy to provide a day off to ration shops on the next working day following the completion of monthly ration distribution. This strategic measure aims to afford the necessary time for crucial behind-the-scenes tasks, ultimately contributing to the overall efficiency of the ration distribution system.
