Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for several districts in Kerala in anticipation of heavy rainfall in the next few days, due to a cyclone forming in the Arabian Sea.
Today, a yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, and Ernakulam districts, and, the alert will extend to Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad districts tomorrow . The Meteorological Department warns that the anticipated rainfall will range from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm over a 24-hour period.
The India Meteorological Department had previously forecast rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in the state in the coming days. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather developments and take necessary precautions.
In addition to the rainfall, there is a possibility of strong waves and stormy seas along the Kerala coast until 11:30 PM tonight. Consequently, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning, urging fishermen to refrain from venturing into the sea during this period.
