Thiruvananthapuram: In the wake of mounting financial crisis in the state, State School Art Festival (School Kalolsavam) venues and luxuries are shrinking. This time the pavilion will be erected only for the main stage. The government has informed that pavilion will be constructed and arranged only for the main stage of the venue in Asramam for the Kalolsavam which is scheduled to be held in Kollam from January 4 to 8.
The competitions will be held in 24 venues in Kollam this time. 16 of these venues are public schools. It is also argued that the aim is to ensure maximum participation of public schools in addition to cost reduction. The organizing committee has decided to give mementos to all participating children. For this, 14,000 mementos are being prepared with the help of sponsors. 40 trophies will be awarded to the schools and districts with the most points.
The School Arts Festival office is arranged in Thevalli Govt. Boys High School. Venues outside schools are CSI Convention Centre, Open Air Auditorium of Asramam Temple, SR Auditorium at Ayathil, puliyathumukku, Kadapakkada Sports Club and Sopanam Auditorium. There will be one single event and one group event each day at the main venue. Drama competitions will be held at Sopanam Auditorium. Accommodation for the participants is mostly arranged in schools. For this, 12 schools have been earmarked in the city.
