Thiruvananthapuram: In an effort to ensure the success of the Navakerala Sadas program, the government is actively working to gather participants by declaring holidays for schools in all constituencies where the event is scheduled. The holiday announcement, initially limited to schools near the public meeting spots, has now been extended to cover the whole area.
While the government claims that the holiday is given for the convenience of students, concerns are rising among school authorities and students with Christmas and annual exams around the corner. Teachers express worries over teaching incomplete lessons, as they are advised against conducting special classes during the holiday period. Various teachers’ organizations are protesting against what they view as an impractical decision taken by the government.
Moreover, there are reports that walls built in schools with the funds from the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) being dismantled to accommodate larger audiences for Navakerala Sadas program.
