Pathanamthitta: In response to the surge of devotees at Sabarimala, the virtual queue booking limit for pilgrims has been officially reduced from 90,000 to 80,000. This decision comes after the government and police failed to manage the escalating traffic.
The High Court intervened when it heard that pilgrims were waiting in line for over ten hours to have darashan. A special sitting of the Devaswom bench of the Kerala High Court was convened to address the concerns surrounding the lack of facilities at Sabarimala amidst the growing number of pilgrims. The High Court’s intervention happened following news reports highlighting the insufficient facilities at Sabarimala, even as the number of pilgrims continued to rise.
