Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president K Surendran said that the state government’s grudge against Ayyappa devotees is continuing. He said, “The BJP had already warned that the government had not made any necessary preparations at Sabarimala during this Mandalam season. Pilgrims have to endure hardship because of the lack of basic facilities at Sannidhanam and Pampa.
There is no system implemented by the government to control the crowd at Sabarimala. It was very sad news that a 12-yr-old Malikappuram (female pilgrim to Sabarimala) collapsed and lost her life in Appachimedu. Ayyappa devotees are finding it very difficult to proceed from Pampa to Sannidhanam. The authorities have not prepared a system to supply even drinking water to the pilgrims in many places.
Also, the government has not prepared washrooms or changing rooms for Malikappurams. It is clear that the political interest of the Pinarayi government is behind the neglect of Sabarimala, which is frequented by many devotees. It is seen that police officers often treat Ayyappans who come from other states very badly.
Sabarimala does not have enough rest centers or health facilities. The Devaswom Board must fulfill its responsibility towards the pilgrims. It is clear that this is because of the Pinarayi government’s grudge towards the Ayyappa devotees who defeated the attempt to demolish the sanctity of Sabarimala by violating its rituals.” K Surendran said that if the government does not change its stance, it will face strong protests.
