Pathanamthitta: Despite a substantial boost in revenue generated from the Sabarimala service, Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employees are reportedly facing salary dues.
In November month alone, KSRTC earned Rs 308 crores, with Rs 6 crores coming from the Pampa service, and ticket sales added up to Rs 210 crores. However, they haven’t even given out the first installment of the salaries yet. KSRTC needs Rs. 75.25 crore to pay salaries to its employees.
Meanwhile, Ayyappa devotees to Sabarimala are facing a series of challenges, particularly in accessing sufficient bus services from Nilakkal to Pampa. Devotees are seen rushing to catch the available buses as there are not enough bus service to Pampa. It has become a common incident for many devotees to faint inside a crowded bus from Nilakkal to Pampa and back. This mismanagement on the government and authorities including KSRTC is causing inconvenience, especially for the elderly and children.
Though to reduce crowding at Sannidhanam, officials have restricted the number of devotees coming from Pampa, longer waits of up to four hours at Pampa is making the pilgrimage more challenging.
