Thiruvananthapuram: SFI goons attacked Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan’s car in the capital city. The incident took place while the Governor was on his way from Raj Bhavan to the airport. The assailants stopped the car and tried to break the window of the car. They even used obscene words on the Governor.
The enraged Governor stopped the vehicle and got out and asked the police officers if this was the security arranged for the Governor. The Governor said that the SFI goons were trying to attack him. He also accused the police of colluding with the attackers. He said the police knew about the protest in advance. The Governor also criticized that the attack on him was done with the knowledge of the Chief Minister.
The SFI workers had already known about the Governor’s travel route. By the time the Governor’s car crossed the Ayyankali Square, they jumped in front of the vehicle, rendering the police inactive, and hit the window of the vehicle with sticks tied with flags, at the place where the Governor was sitting.
It is suspected that the SFI gang attack on the Governor in front of Palayam University College was with the connivance of the police. While the police team was watching, a group of around 100 SFI goons rushed towards the Governor’s vehicle, surrounded and attacked it. A police team was present near the Ayyangali Hall at the time of the incident but tried to stop the assailants only at the last moment. It is alleged that this is evidence of a police conspiracy.
