THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP spokesperson Sandeep Vachaspati has criticized Malayalam actor and director Ranjith for insulting director Dr. Biju. Sandeep Vachaspati strongly pointed out that Ranjith being a slave of CPI(M), it is unacceptable for the people of Kerala to remain silent regarding Ranjith’s dictatorial approach.
Director Ranjith, the current Chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, sparked controversy by insulting Dr. Biju’s film ‘Adrishya Jalakangal,’ starring Tovino Thomas in a leading role. During an interview with a private news media outlet, Ranjith remarked, “There is no relevance in releasing movies like Dr. Biju’s ‘Adrishya Jalakangal,’ which lack significant audience interest in theaters.” This sparked controversy, and several people criticized Ranjith for his dictatorial approach.
Responding to this, Sandeep Vachaspati criticized Ranjith’s authoritarian attitude towards other directors, attributing it to his backing by the ruling left government in Kerala. Sandeep Vachaspati expressed his contempt on Facebook against Ranjith’s controversial remark on Dr. Biju.
Sandeep Vachaspati noted that ‘so-called socio-cultural leaders in Kerala, who are aligned with communism, lack the courage to question Ranjith’s insulting behaviour towards Dr. Biju. Vachaspati also demanded Ranjith’s removal from his position as Chairman of the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy.
Sandeep Vachaspati also highlighted that director Dr. Biju has directed several remarkable Malayalam movies acclaimed in international film festivals. This incident isn’t the first time that Ranjith is insulting other directors. Previously, he insulted director Vinayan, prompting Minister Saji Cherian’s intervention to resolve the issue.
