Thiruvananthapuram: Dr. Ruwise, the accused in Dr. Shahana’s suicide case, has been taken into custody by the investigating team. The court granted the police custody of the accused for four days after rejecting Ruwise’s bail plea yesterday (December 11). The court cited that granting bail might impede the ongoing investigation.
In her suicide note, Dr. Shahana had expressed despair over alleged demands for dowry, stating, ‘I am ending my life because of their greed for dowry. Are they seeking money for his sister? I feel deceived.’ Based on relatives’ statements and circumstantial evidence, Ruwise was taken into custody and subsequently arrested.
Initially, the police denied Ruwise’s involvement in Shahana’s suicide. It was later revealed that the investigative team had not disclosed the relatives’ statement regarding Ruwise’s alleged dowry demands. Criticisms have surfaced, suggesting that the police only filed the case against the accused after Dr. Shahana’s case gained significant attention.
