Kottayam: The court has given a 15-year jail term and a fine of Rs 60,000 to a man accused of breaking into a graduate student’s house, threatening her with a knife, and raping her. Native of Punalur, Anish Kumar, was sentenced by the court. The court also noted his involvement in multiple other cases.
The incident happened in August 2018 when Anish Kumar attacked the girl while she was leaving for her university exams. Additionally, he’s accused of assaulting a railway gate employee at Tenkashi a few months ago. Currently jailed in Tamil Nadu, he was brought to the Punalur court for trial. Additional Public Prosecutor SS Binu represented the prosecution.
