Pathanamthitta: Kerala Janapaksham leader, PC George, accused the state government under Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, of insulting devotees in Sabarimala issue. He also accused the CM of harboring an ulterior motive to destroy Sabarimala pilgrimage.
PC George said that the pilgrimage, which was going on smoothly has been undermined by the government. He pointed out that the Devaswom Minister only reached Sabarimala 21 days after the pilgrimage started for reviewing the situation there.
Meanwhile, it was found that there is a discrepancy in the Chief Minister’s statement about the number of police personnel deployed at Sabarimala. The CM had claimed that 16,118 police personnel were deployed at Pampa, Nilakkal, and in the premises of the Sabarimala temple. However, the number of police officers on a single day is only 3,394. Out of this only 1,132 officers are deployed at a time to control the huge crowds thronging the holy shrine.
The CM had claimed that 16,118 police officers were deployed at the three places. However, this figure is the total number of police officers during the whole season till Makaravillaku. The CM had given this total figure when asked about it.
