THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Citing the police’s failure in investigating the Vandiperiyar rape and murder case involving a 6-year-old girl, activists from Kerala’s BJP Mahila Morcha staged a protest at DGP Sheikh Darvesh Sahib’s residence in Thiruvananthapuram.
Yesterday, Judge V Manju at the Special Fast Track Court in Kattappana stated that the prosecution had not presented sufficient evidence against the accused, Arjun Sundar (24). As a result, the court acquitted Arjun Sundar, citing investigation lapses.
Following the verdict, the distressed mother of the child and her relatives expressed outrage at the court premises. They attempted to attack the police jeep transporting the accused. The mother and relatives voiced their dissatisfaction, asserting that justice had not been served for the victim.
