THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The President of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), K Sudhakaran, vehemently criticized CM Pinarayi Vijayan for using the police to suppress protesters. Sudhakaran termed the CM’s bodyguards as ‘criminals and goons’.
Sudhakaran accused CM Pinarayi Vijayan of directing the police to brutally attack protesters who had only waved black flags at the bus carrying CM Pinarayi Vijayan during his extravagant ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ campaign. He condemned the assault on Youth Congress members in Alappuzha, attributing it to the CM’s instructions and pledged strong opposition to such inhumane actions.
Sudhakaran’s comments were in response to yesterday’s incident where Youth Congress activists were subjected to a brutal attack by Pinarayi Vijayan’s bodyguards in Alappuzha.
Sudhakaran also questioned the purpose of the ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’, labeling it as solely a CPI(M) party promotion program funded by the government.
A video depicting the police’s severe treatment of the Youth Congress members has gone viral, drawing criticism from various corners for the inhumane behavior of the police.
As criticism mounts against the police behavior, CM Pinarayi Vijayan has voiced support for his gunman’s actions. He stated that the gunman and bodyguards were solely responsible for his security and emphasized that the police were simply executing their duty.
