PATHANAMTHITTA: The Muslim Jamaat Committee has decided to not to participate in the Chief Minister’s extravagant ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ camapaign programme. Representatives from the Pathanamthitta Jamaat committee, including the Imam, announced their decision to skip the morning meeting with the Chief Minister. This move stems from disagreements arising from former Justice Fathima Beevi’s funeral arrangements. The Jamaat Committee expressed discontent regarding the absence of government representatives at the funeral.
Officials from the Muslim Jamaat highlighted the absence of Veena George, the Health Minister from the same district, at the funeral.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan mentioned that the minister’s absence was due to the ongoing ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ event. The Jamaat Committee cited this as an exhibition of their government’s disrespect towards former Justice Fathima Beevi.
India’s first female Supreme Court judge, Justice Fathima Beevi, passed away on November 23 at a private hospital in Kollam. She had also served as the Governor of Tamil Nadu and as a member of the National Human Rights Commission.
