THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: High security has been ensured for Kerala Chief Minister’s gunman, Anil Kumar and escort policeman Sandeep, who brutally attacked KSU protesters in Alappuzha. Police have arranged security for both their residences.
The police have increased security measures for Sandeep’s residence near Museum Pottakuzhi and Anil Kumar’s residence in Peroorkada, Thiruvananthapuram.
On December 15th, police brutally attacked KSU protesters who had waved black flags at the bus carrying CM Pinarayi Vijayan for the ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ campaign program at Kaithavana Junction, Alappuzha. This led to the severe injury of four KSU activists, who were subsequently admitted to the hospital.
Senior leaders, including K Sudhakaran, and other KSU activists staged a protest, denouncing the police as ‘criminals and goons’ of Pinarayi Vijyan. Following this, the Police Commissioner ordered intensified security for gunman Anil Kumar and escort Sandeep, including at their residences.
Protesters claimed that despite police being on duty, the gunman left his official jeep and brutally attacked them. They alleged that CPI(M) and DYFI activists, travelling with the official convoy for the ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ program, also joined the police in assaulting the protesters.
KSU members added that this wasn’t the first incident involving the same gunman; he had previously attacked a news photographer in Idukki.
