Wayanad: After a ten-day search, the forest department trapped the man-eating tiger that killed a farmer in Sultan Bathery. The tiger, identified as WWL 45, was trapped in cage No. 1, placed within a coffee plantation near Colony Kavala. The forest department had deployed five cages in the area for this purpose.
Recently, the tiger entered Vakeri native Santosh’s property, where it attacked and killed a cow, prompting the forest department to intensify efforts to catch the tiger.
The tiger had killed a dairy farmer named Prajeesh, who went to collect grass for his cattle in the field. He was attacked and eaten by the tiger. Following an inspection by the forest department, they confirmed the presence of a 13-year-old tiger, identified as WWL 45, at the scene. The forest department announced that the same tiger was caught in their trap.
Officials plan to relocate the tiger to a wildlife sanctuary in Kuppadi. But the locals came forward to raise a protest against this. They demand that the tiger be shot dead.
