Ernakulam: A stay has been put on the government’s order asking the District Collectors to find money for the Chief Minister’s Nava Kerala Sadas. The government order was that the District Collectors should raise money through advertisement for the conduct of the Nava Kerala Sadas held in the constituencies of the districts. This order has now been stayed by the High Court.
The High Court stayed the order on the grounds that the government had not issued guidelines for collection and accounting of funds for implementation of the programme. The court action is based on a petition filed by a native of Pathanamthitta.
The argument in the petition was that the government order was against The All India Services (Conduct) Rules. The petition also demanded that the government order requiring district collectors to find the cost of the program should be declared illegal.
